This remarkable framed display presents a rare and intriguing piece of Odd Fellows history. Encased within a beautifully crafted shadow box with a gold-gilded lining, this set includes two original Incinerated Remains Record Cards, documenting the cremation of Frances G. Loucks (dated September 21, 1902) and Orlando Loucks (dated July 26, 1898).

At the heart of the composition, an official Odd Fellows black wax seal, embossed with the year 1895, is carefully preserved alongside the remnants of an aged ribbon.

This framed artifact serves as both a striking conversation piece and a tangible connection to the Odd Fellows’ unique funeral customs. A must-have for collectors of fraternal memorabilia, Victorian mourning artifacts, or those with a passion for the unusual and macabre.

The Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF) is a fraternal organization with roots dating back to 18th-century England. Established in North America in 1819, the Odd Fellows emphasized charity, community service, and mutual aid. Their motto—"Friendship, Love, and Truth"—reflects their commitment to supporting members and their communities through benevolent work, including orphanages, homes for the elderly, and burial services.

The Odd Fellows also embraced elaborate rituals and symbolism, with secret rites and regalia that set them apart. Their involvement in funeral and memorial customs, such as maintaining cemeteries and handling cremated remains, was a significant aspect of their tradition. The order’s history is rich with mystery, philanthropy, and a dedication to fraternity that continues today.
